Paula Irving, Business Development Officer

A graduate of NSCC’s Business Administration Diploma Program, Paula joined PRDA in 2007, after a 20-year stint with Sobeys Inc. While there she held a wide variety of business development positions at Sobeys, including accounting, marketing, advertising, event marketing, category management, business analytics, private label product development and IT.

Sally O'Neill, Community Development Officer

In assuming duties as Community Development Officer in April 2011, Sally works to build capacity and improve the sustainability of community organizations in Pictou County. This entails working with community groups and municipalities on a daily basis on everything from facilitating strategic planning to assisting with funding plans and applications, and implementing projects on their behalf. A big part of the difference Sally can make is in helping organizations make connections in the community.

Sally is also the staff liaison for the Welcoming and Inclusive Community Strategy – aiding this committee to realize the goals of the strategy, and helping to make Pictou County a warm and welcoming community. This role dovetails with another project that Sally recently spearheaded, creating "WELCOME!" a community newsletter and blog.

Sally has previously worked with West River Greenhouses in marketing and retail sales. As a writer she has created content for marketing initiatives and written published pieces including business profiles, brochures, a regular gardening column in the Advocate newspaper and web copy for Velsoft Courseware, New Glasgow. Sally comes from a tradition of family enterprise and prior to moving to Pictou County with her family in 2008, she and her sister owned and operated a successful garden centre in HRM.

"People choose to live here for many reasons, we endeavor to help them put down roots and make a home as part of a connected community. It is a great privilege to be able to continue this work in my role at PRDA."
